    Ná die dood van Philip du Preez het sy weduwee Voorbedacht behou en toe sy dit verlaat, word dit op 11 Oktober 1775 oorgedra op naam van haar skoonseun J. P. Nel, wat seker sedert sy huwelik op 26 November 1769 met Cecilia Johanna du Preez (ged, 1743; De Villiers 111, bl. 65, c4, d8) ook daar gewoon het. Sy was vroeër met Johannes Fourie, die veertiende kind van die Hugenote-stamvader, getroud, by wie sy 'n paar kindertjies gehad het. Haar oudste suster was die vrou van Philip Rudolph Botha (ged. 1722, De Villiers 1, bl. 94, c7), en hierdie egpaar het die grootouers geword van kommandant P. R. Botha (1771-1833, De Villiers 1, ( bl, 94, d2, el) van die Kango Nooitgedacht of Boomplaats),wie se naam vandag nog in daardie omgewing voortleef. Vir Voorbedacht moes Nel die gebruiklike rekognisie van 24 riksdaalders (sowat R1O) per jaar betaal. Dit lyk egter nie of dit op geldelike gebied met hom voor die wind gegaan het nie, want in 1789, ná die dood van sy vrou, moes hy by die Weeskamer, wat die boedel beredder het, 4,000 gulden op rente onder spesiale verband van sy plaas opneem, om daarmee die goed te betaal wat hy op die vendusie gekoop het. Terselfdetyd moes die Here Weesmeesters die agterstallige rekognisie van 19 en 'n kwart -jaar op die plaas vereffen! Nel het die plaas nogtans weer oorgeneem en tot aan sy dood daar bly woon.
