    Notes:

    Henrik and his brother, Ockert were the progenitors (stamvaders) of Olivier family in South Africa. Their common second name indicates that their father's name was Cornelis.
    Hendrik arrived at the Cape in 1661 from Ouwerkerk in the Netherlands and in the same year he became a free burger.
    He was commended as being one of the best 10 farmers in the Cape on 1 Apr 1677. After this he was permitted to buy a slave.
    He was the owner of the farm "Tygerberg" at the Liesbeekrivier.
    When he died he left land described as "onbeboud" (not developed), a fram on the Tygerberg, cattle, sheep and nearly 10,000 gulden.

    Arrived 1661. On 1 Apr 1677 he was acknowledged to be one of the ten best farmers and was allowed to buy a slave. Owner of 'Tygerberg' on the Liesbeek River.

    Arrived 1671. Was not married to Maria Janse Visser but had two out of wedlock children with her
    m Ouwekerk in the Netherlands, arrived at the Cape 1661, vryburger and shown as one of the best ten farmers on 1.4.1677 after which he was allowed to buy a slave, owner of 'Tygerberg' on the Liiebeeck river.

    Die Olivier voorgeslagte het lank voor die Franse Hugenote (1688) al na Suid-wes Holland verkas en is hulle dan nie juis deel van die Franse Hugenote nie.

    In 1687 het Hendrik en sy vrou met 'n paar andere geweier om kerkdienste by te woon weens die ergerlike lewe van die sieketrooster, Sybrand Mankapdan. Hendrik is aangekla op 22 September 1673 weens diefstal.

    Hendrik sterwe 1701 en hy het toe 'n onbebouwde plaas gehad aan de Ruyterstal valleij en 'n plaas by Tygerberg. Die plaas Clara Anna Fontein by Tygerberg word aan Beatrix toegeken. Sy ontvang ook weiland in 1706 in die Land van Waveren, sy kry hierdie plaas met 'n erfbrief in 1714, en is bekend as Louisenklip aan die Klein Berg rivier. Sy was bekend as die 'landbouweresse'.     After the death of her spouse, the farm "Clara Anna Fontein" currently Bellville, was allocated to her. In 1714 the loan farm "Louisklip", district Gouda was registered in her name.


    Beatrix and her sister married the Olivier progenitor brothers, Ockert and Hendrik.
    After her husband's death in 1702 she received the farm "Clara Anna Fontein " (currently the suburb of Bellville in Cape Town). She also received grazing rights in the Land van Waveren (Tulbagh) in 1708.
    In 1714 the loan farm "Louisklip" in the Gouda district was registered in her name.
    In addition to her bequests to her children Beatrix left 50 gulden to the poor of the town.

    Stamvader Gysbert VERWEY was from Milligen. He was born about 1630, he was also known as Gysbert Dirksz Verwey. They arrived in South Africa before 1688 with his wife - Catharina GANZEVANGER - and three children. She was also known as Catharina Theunisz and Trijn Gysbertsz.

    The VOC forbid vryburghers to sell wheat to the passing ship. Some of the burghers mixed the wheat with straw and then sold it under the cover as pig or chicken feed. Gysbert was caught trespassing this prohibition. On 18 November 1671 Catharina was fined 12 rijksdaalers for insulting the court of justice. After the death of Gysbert, his wife Catharina between 1677 - 1678 was involved with the brewing of beer using sugar as an essential part of the production.

    Stamvader Gysbert VERWEY was from Milligen. He was born about 1630, he was also known as Gysbert Dirksz Verwey. They arrived in South Africa before 1688 with his wife - Catharina GANZEVANGER - and three children. She was also known as Catharina Theunisz and Trijn Gysbertsz.
    The VOC forbid vryburghers to sell wheat to the passing ship. Some of the burghers mixed the wheat with straw and then sold it under the cover as pig or chicken feed. Gysbert was caught trespassing this prohibition. On 18 November 1671 Catharina was fined 12 rijksdaalers for insulting the court of justice. After the death of Gysbert, his wife Catharina between 1677 - 1678 was involved with the brewing of beer using sugar as an essential part of the production.

    Arrived at the Cape from Milligen, Netherlands before 1668.
    Gysbert was the progenitor (stamvader) of Verwey family in South Africa. He arrived in the Cape before 1688 with his wife, Catharina, and 3 children.

    Tryntje Gansevanger was a remarkable and enterprising woman and a most successful farmer. She made sure her children were literate _ Aletta and Beatrix both wrote a good hand, but Hendrik and Ocker signed documents with a cross. Both Beatrix and Aletta saw to it that their children, too, were literate and both women kept up and expanded their farming operations after their husbands died.

    Catharina was a remarkable and enterprising woman and most successful farmer. She ensured that her children were literate - both her daughters, Aletta and Beatrix, wrote with a good hand, while their Olivier husbands signed documents with a cross.
