Jacob Coetzer, wat ook sy naam as Kutzer geteken het, is afkomstig van Setry, naby Weenen.

Hy vas die seun van Wenzelaus Kutzer. Hy het in die jaar 1709 as soldaat in diens van die H.O.I.K. in Tafelbaai voet aan wal gesit, en was vir die eerste paar jaar as boerkneg werksaam.

In 1714 het hy egter burgerskap verkry, en op 15 September 1717 is hy in die eg verbind met Cornelia Helms, die wedewee van Ary Van wyk.

Sy tweede huwelik met Susanna Snyman het in 1722 plaasgevind. Van sy tien kinders, is drie waarskynlik ongertroud oorlede:

1) Maria Magdalena (1724)

2) Phillipus Jacobus (1730)

3) Jacobus Johannes (1734)

Die ander kinders was:

4) Johannes Jacobus (1716) burger te Drakenstein en getroud 15.2.1739 met Maria Botha; hertroud 27.11.1746 met Johanna Nel; 15 kinders.

5) Dorothea (1717), getroud met J. Van Deventer.

6) Susanna Margaretha (1723), getroud 19.4.1744 met J.A. Kuil, van Lubeck.

7) Maria Elisabeth (1727), getroud 8.8.1754 met S. van Echten.

8) Wensel Christoffel (1728), getroud 13.2.1752 met Elisabeth Du Toit; 8 kinders.

9) Jeremias (1732), getroud 17.4.1763 met Susanna Du Toit; hertroud 12.4.1772 met Elonora Loret; 6 kinders.
10) Johanna Jacoba (1740), getroud met F.W. Alleman; hertroud met D.C. Haan, van Vryburg.

Hy trou op 15 September 1717 met Cornelia HELMS, die weduwee van Ary van Wyk. Uit hierdie huwelik is twee kinders gebore. Hy trou toe weer met Susanna SNYMAN in 1722.

In 1692 she and Jan van den Bos are listed in the muster rolls with three children. All her children are given as listed in her two wills, one made with Arij van Wijk in 1713, the other with Jacob Coetser in 1720. Both wills states that she had eight Van Wijck children and give their names - the earlier will gives their ages as well. The details of her children's spouses and their children come from the Deceased Estate Accounts of her son Willem van Wijk d'oude, accounts dated 1771-72.
