Grew up on the farm La Bruslée, near Suèvres. After his marriage he lived on the farm La Luandiere in the congregation Saint-Lubin de Suèevres.
Arrived at the Cape in 1688.

Fouche meaning one from the Army. The progenitor of the family Fouche in South Africa was Philippe Foucher who came from Suévres, which was near Ménars in the Loire Valley in France. Philippe was the son of the farmer Bernard Foucher who was born in 1617 and who died in 1674, from the farm "La Bruslée" which was near Suévres, and his wife Anne Bruére. Philippe married on the 7 June 1677 at Scoffier, France with Anna Souchay, daughter of Paul Souchay and Anne Paillevert from Aunay, and they had four children. He and his family arrived at the Cape in 1688 aboard the "Voorschoten," as French refugees and settled on the farm, "De Wilde Paardenjacht" east of the Berg River in Drakenstein, in 1699.
Hy was van Suevres in Frankryk afkomstig en arriveer 1688 in die Kaap as 'n Franse Hugenoot met sy vrou op die Voorschooten. Hy was gevestig in 1692 te De Wildepaardenjacht, Paarl, en is in 1708 oorlede. Hy het 3 seuns en 3 dogters gehad. Twee kinders is egter jonk in Europa reeds oorlede.
