    During his growing years, Steve was responsible for the dairy on his father's plot in Wadeville, Germiston. He had to get up at 02:00 to milk the cows before cycling to school at Germistoon Boys' High.

    After completing his school career, he worked as a clerk in the S A Railways. His family moved to a farm on the Letaba river near Letsitele in the then Northern Transvaal (now Northern Province) where he worked on the farm.

    Two years after his marriage to Marietjie Schoeman they moved to Boksburg where he spent 30 years in the motor trade. He was a salesman for Nagington Motors. After retiring in 1990 he took over a furniture factory. He loved the Lord, set the example of diligently attending all church meetings and was ordained as a pastor and filled the position of hospital chaplain in the Randburg area for ten years. Moved to Hartbeespoort in 2004.

    He was extremely punctual, never late for an appointment and had the ability to repair anything. He loved woodwork, welding and any similar type of activity and was an accomplished artist, producing water-based, acrylic and oil paintings.

    He loved travelling, visited the USA three times and travelled to many other countries with his wife.

    Stephen married Maria Johanna (Marietjie) SCHOEMAN on 21 Jul 1951 in Tzaneen, Transvaal, South Africa.     Notes:

    Marietjie met Steve at a Church conference in Johannesburg in 1949. They met again at a later stage in Tzaneen, where Steve told Marietjie that his previous girl friend refused to serve the Lord and that he could not continue his relationship with her for that reason. From then on their relationship flourished and they were married six months later.

    After raising her four children, she did administrative work for various estate agents. She later started the agency for the United Building Society at ESKOM, wher she worked for more than 10 years until her retirement in 1989.

    After their retirement they both served the Lord in ministry and traveled the world.
