    He married (first wife)Maria van der Merwe 14 April 1720 and (second wife) Martha Houtman on 12 January 1727.

  1. 2.  Berndt (Barend) BURCHERDT (BURGER) was born about 1650 in Lubeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany; died in 1705 in Cape, South Africa.

    Notes:

    Berndt Burcherdt assumed the Dutch version of his name, Barend Burger, when hearrived at the Cape, about 1688. He became a Citizen 1691. He was a Kapitein, Oos-Indische Compagnie. In 1688 his name appears on the list of "Vrijburgers" (Free Citizens) of the Cape. His signature as "Heemraad" of the Cape in 1699, shows his German handwriting.

    Berndt married Maria (Marietjie) VAN DER MERWE about 1690 in Cape, South Africa. Maria was born about 1675; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
